Como você começou a carreira como modelo Plus size?

Estava fazendo uma expedição da National Geographic (sou doutora em paleontologia) e o fotógrafo perguntou se eu já tinha sido modelo, pois saia muito bem nas fotos. Nunca tinha feito nada disso, mas fiquei com a ideia na cabeça.

Meu início foi como o de muitas outras meninas: procurei uma agência no Rio de Janeiro, fiz book caro e “breguinha”. Também fiz WorkShop Stand Out, da Rita Carreira e Carol Santos, que me ensinaram a posar, desfilar e me cuidar como modelo.

Depois, dei muito a cara a tapa. Fiz meu cartãozinho de visitas com minhas fotos e medidas, e fui “panfletar” para as marcas no Hashtag Moda Plus, evento de moda Plus size aqui no Rio de Janeiro.

Você enfrentou alguma dificuldade no começo?

Todo início de carreira é difícil, mas não posso dizer que sofri preconceito. Já escutei muito que não sou gorda de verdade e que me apropriava do termo. Algumas pessoas confundem atacar o problema da desigualdade e da gordofobia com atacar pessoas diretamente.

Meu corpo é da “gorda padrão”, tamanho 48, com cintura e pouca barriga. Acredito que todos os biotipos e tamanhos deveriam ter espaços iguais e as marcas precisam atender essa demanda.

Ainda há muitas barreiras a serem quebradas em relação ao corpo gordo na sociedade, e a moda ainda reflete isso, infelizmente.

Você conta no seu perfil que também é cientista! Você consegue conciliar as duas profissões?

Sim! Sou bióloga, doutora em zoologia, e minha área de atuação é a Paleontologia. Atualmente faço pós-doutorado e tento ser o mais organizada possível com meus cronogramas e planejamentos, para não perder prazos e me manter em dia com a produção de artigos, orientações e leituras.

Como surgiu a ideia de criar um canal no YouTube com outras modelos plus size?

O GORDALIDADES surgiu da ideia de registrar as conversas e experiências que eu, a Stella Nunes e a Amanda Vieira já compartilhávamos entre a gente sobre o mundo Plus size, carreira de modelo, trabalhos, etc. Então, resolvemos gravar e compartilhar no YouTube.

Com certeza vamos seguir com esse projeto e estamos planejando muitas novidades para o futuro do canal!

Você tem algum trabalho ou momento preferido na sua carreira?

Tenho vários momentos que lembro com muito carinho. Um deles é quando ganhei o concurso Plus Model Brasil, organizado pela Aline Zattar, em 2018. Outro momento foi quando desfilei no Casa de Criadores para estilistas que admiro demais, como Fernando Cozendey e Helô Farias.

Você acha que o mercado está mais acolhedor para o público plus size?

Com certeza o mercado Plus size cresceu muito nos últimos anos, mas ainda precisa acolher a diversidade do corpo gordo e seus diferentes tamanhos e formatos.

Gostaria de ver mais campanhas com modelos maiores e perfis mais diversos, marcas expandindo suas grades de tamanho, e os valores das peças sendo mais acessíveis ao grande público.

Você tem algum sonho ou meta que deseja realizar?

Sou muito grata a todos os trabalhos que já fiz e muitas vezes nem acredito que eles aconteceram mesmo, de tão incríveis! Um sonho bem alto que tenho é fazer uma capa de revista de moda, porque na ciência já fui capa (risos).

Para finalizar, você tem alguma dica para meninas que querem se tornar modelos?

Tenho várias dicas! A primeira é estudem, se informem sobre a carreira, agências e mercado de trabalho. Trabalhar como modelo não é só glamour, recebidos e likes. É preciso construir sua autoestima, personalidade e profissionalismo antes de tudo!
