Como você começou a trabalhar como modelo?

Quando era criança algumas agências me convidavam para conhecê-las, porém sempre fui gordinha e na época não existiam modelos plus size, então meu perfil não era “interessante”. Fiquei mais velha, me formei em veterinária e comecei a procurar algo para fazer para complementar minha renda.

Acabei vendo uma notícia sobre modelos plus size e resolvi arriscar! Procurei uma agência perto de casa na época, pois não entendia nada sobre moda, e fiz um book. Infelizmente, essa agência era uma das que chamamos de “vendedoras de book”, que só está interessada em ganhar dinheiro vendendo book e não agenciando, mas acabei dando sorte e fui selecionada para um trabalho. A partir daí minha carreira deslanchou e hoje integro uma das melhores agências do país.

Você enfrentou preconceito ou outros obstáculos durante a carreira?

Quando comecei percebi que alguns profissionais desvalorizavam e até desdenhavam de modelos plus size. O meio era muito amador e com muitas meninas despreparadas e, para ser valorizada, você precisava mostrar que era tão boa ou melhor quanto uma modelo slim.

Conheço muitas modelos plus que já foram maltratadas por alguém da moda. Quando percebi isso, minha resposta foi me aprimorar e fazer meu melhor em cada trabalho, para mostrar que eu não era diferente de outras modelos só por ser plus size.

Como é o seu cotidiano como modelo?

Minha vida é bem corrida e no meu tempo livre gosto de ver meus cavalos, me exercitar e namorar (risos)! Tento seguir uma alimentação saudável, faço caminhada, pilates e drenagem linfática.

Você conta no seu perfil que é veterinária. Você consegue conciliar as duas profissões?

Hoje em dia modelar toma conta dos meus dias. Tenho meus animais e ainda exerço um pouquinho da veterinária com eles. A maioria das pessoas não sabe a importância dos médicos veterinários em nossa saúde, alimentação e vida. Por isso, tenho muita admiração e respeito aos veterinários, que continuam batalhando nessa profissão tão importante.

Na indústria você é considerada uma modelo curvy e, às vezes, essas modelos sofrem críticas por não parecerem fora do “padrão” para algumas pessoas. Você já passou por uma situação como essa?

Sim. As pessoas se esquecem que uma modelo, como o próprio nome diz, é uma modelo, uma referência. E infelizmente para isso ainda existem padrões, que estão sendo derrubados aos poucos. Novos biótipos estão sendo inseridos no mundo da moda, então, para mim, qualquer pessoa diferente do “tradicional” é um motivo de alegria. Acredito que quanto mais entusiasmo tivermos por isso, mais esse meio se abrirá para outros perfis.

O que eu vejo hoje em dia são grandes marcas acostumadas a colocarem modelos 34/36 em suas campanhas, dando espaço para modelos 44/46 e, ao invés de receberem elogios por estarem quebrando o padrão, recebem críticas.
