Khrystyana conta que a ideia do show veio de uma de suas primeiras experiências no mundo da moda. Ela foi concorrente da 24° edição do reality show America’s Next Top Model, e um dos desafios foi um desfile aberto ao público na Times Square, a avenida mais famosa de Nova York.

A modelo conta que as mensagens de apoio que recebeu em suas redes sociais foram extremamente positivas, o que a inspirou a criar o evento.

“Body positivity, para mim, significa uma inclusão completa — não é só sobre mulheres curvy, mas sobre todas as mulheres — pequenas, fortes, transgênero, mulheres em cadeiras de rodas, de todos os tons de pele, em forma, magras, com sardas, mulheres com deficiências – TODAS merecem se sentir bonitas”, disse Khrysty ao site Yahoo.

O primeiro desfile aconteceu em dezembro de 2017 e, de acordo com a organizadora, nem tudo ocorreu como planejado e muitas modelos que foram convidadas não puderam comparecer. Mas Khrystyana não desistiu e, em julho de 2018, conseguiu montar mais uma edição do evento.

Dessa vez, em Londres, o desfile foi um sucesso e mais ou menos 115 modelos desfilaram usando maiôs e lingeries. “Existem pessoas que não usam maiôs e biquínis há 20 ou 30 anos e hoje, hoje foi o dia delas, e elas se sentiram confiantes, se sentiram sexy, se sentiram bonitas”, Khrysty contou à BBC News.

Agora, de volta à Times Square, o evento se tornou o maior entre as 3 edições. A modelo convidou diversas pessoas e, como ela não quer criar um casting competitivo como o de várias marcas, todos que quiseram fazer parte puderam desfilar. No final, quase 200 pessoas participaram!

Além disso, pela primeira vez ela teve apoio de diversas marcas que se identificaram com a mensagem body positive do evento. Marcas como Swimsuits for All, Woman Within e Roaman’s disponibilizaram maiôs, biquínis e lingeries para as modelos.

Jari Jones, uma das modelos transexuais que fez parte da Real Catwalk, disse em entrevista que o desfile é muito importante pois mostra que todas as pessoas merecem respeito e amor. “Ele é uma declaração pública de que mulheres trans e plus size estão, com certeza, entre as mulheres consideradas bonitas. Nós somos, sem dúvida, parte da fantasia.”, declarou a modelo.
