Quem acredita que a moda é algo fútil, feito apenas para servir como entretenimento para as pessoas, está muito enganado. A moda acompanha o momento em que vivemos, desde sempre ela é usada como uma forma de protesto, quebrar paradigmas e chamar atenção para os problemas que a sociedade enfrenta.

E foi um grande protesto que o designer dinamarquês, nascido no Irã, Reza Etamadi escolheu fazer durante o desfile da sua marca MUF10, na Copenhagen Fashion Week. As modelos desfilaram pela passarela vestindo trajes tradicionais muçulmanos, como o niqab e o hijab, que cobrem a cabeça ou o rosto inteiro, protestando a favor do direito das mulheres de utilizar trajes religiosos.

Isso aconteceu pois, em 2018, o Parlamento da Dinamarca aprovou um projeto de lei que proíbe as mulheres de usarem peças que cubram o rosto em lugares públicos, como burcas e niqabs. A lei passou a valer no dia 1º de agosto e as mulheres que desrespeitarem a lei podem pagar uma multa de 134 euros até 1.343 euros. Além disso, outros países como França, Áustria e Bélgica aprovaram leis similares.

Além das modelos com esses trajes, a marca de Etamadi também mostrou modelos vestidos com uniformes policiais que entregaram flores para as modelos durante o show. As modelos usando os trajes em protesto ficaram paradas ao lado daqueles vestidos como policiais, enquanto outras percorriam a passarela mostrando a coleção de primavera/verão 2019 da marca.

Etamadi disse em uma entrevista para o site The Independent, que ele acredita que a forma como as mulheres escolhem se vestir não deve ser ditada pelo governo. “Eu tenho o dever de apoiar a liberdade de expressão e a liberdade de pensamento de todas as mulheres”, disse ele durante entrevista. Ele disse ainda que a nova lei vai contra o direito à liberdade que o país é tão orgulhoso de ter.

Etamadi disse para o site AP News: “No irã, onde eu nasci, as mulheres lutam para ter livre escolha do que vestir. Na Dinamarca, onde eu cresci… as mulheres eram livres para escolher como se vestir ou quão vestidas elas queriam estar”.

As passarelas não foram o único lugar de protesto, na semana de 1º de agosto, várias mulheres se juntaram nas ruas de Copenhagen usando niqabs e burcas, em protesto a lei. Uma mulher de 28 anos foi a primeira a ser multada, após brigar com outra mulher que estava tentando tirar o seu véu.

Um fato interessante é que em março deste ano a Vogue Britânica fez história ao colocar na capa a primeira mulher usando um hijab na história da revista, a modelo de origem somali Halima Aden, de apenas 20 anos.

“Não tenho uma atitude unânime em relação à proibição em geral, mas tenho um princípio: nenhum homem deve decidir o que as mulheres devem usar”, completou Etamadi.
