A supermodelo Helena Christensen, recentemente, ajudou a demonstrar isso em uma viagem para Ruanda, um país localizado no continente africano, onde um grupo de refugiados, em parceria com um programa de auxílio, decidiu montar um desfile de moda usando criações dos artesãos locais.

Helena é uma modelo dinamarquesa, atualmente com 50 anos, que ficou muito conhecida nos anos 90. Ela era uma das modelos mais prestigiadas pelas grifes e, ao longo da carreira, chegou a aparecer em 650 capas de revista! Ganhando assim o título de supermodelo internacional.

Ela sempre apoiou diversas causas e, desde 2014, apoia o órgão “Alto Comissariado das Nações Unidas para os Refugiados”, o ACNUR, cujo objetivo principal é ajudar e apoiar pessoas refugiadas ao redor do mundo.

Helena viaja até campos de refugiados para conhecer e dar apoio às pessoas, além de fotografar o estilo de vida e cultura da região. Sua última viagem não poderia ser mais especial, já que a modelo pode presenciar e participar de um desfile de moda ao lado de outros modelos do campo.

Ela conta em seu relato publicado na revista Vogue que a experiência de desfilar em um campo de refugiados não foi muito diferente de uma das grandes passarelas que já participou. “Isso poderia ser um desfile em um armazém em Nova York ou em um antigo mercado de Londres. Mas não é. Estou em um centro comunitário”, descreveu a modelo.

Ela desfilou ao lado de um grupo de refugiados, da agência TFM – Top Fashion Models, que têm o sonho de serem modelos de sucesso. A modelo Gisella, 21 anos, é um deles. A jovem conta que precisou abandonar Burundi, um pequeno país também na África, por conta de problemas políticos e buscar refúgio em Ruanda.

Ela e sua família tiveram que fugir do país após seu pai ser preso por se recusar a entrar para uma milícia. Após 3 anos, apesar de todas as barreiras, Gisella se recusa a aceitar seu rótulo como refugiada e desistir de seus sonhos. Assim, junto com um grupo de colegas, ela fundou a agência TFM, com o objetivo de transformar seus sonhos de virar modelo em realidade.

A pequena agência já alcançou grandes feitos dentro e fora da comunidade, onde eles trabalham com membros do campo para criar roupas, às vezes feitas com cobertores de doações. Helena conta em seu relato que eles são ótimos modelos, cheios de atitude e confiança!

Guy, outro refugiado e fundador da agência, diz que eles pretendem trazer alegria ao local. “Fazer parte de algo tão especial nos deixa felizes, mesmo que algumas pessoas deem risada de nós quando nos vestimos e andamos pelo campo!
