Neste vídeo, 4 modelos negras de sucesso foram entrevistadas e compartilharam um pouco de sua jornada na indústria fashion. Como vocês podem ver, não é nada fácil!
O mercado já é competitivo, mas para modelos negras o desafio ainda inclui dificuldades especiais ligadas ao seu tom de pele.
Já pensou você, uma modelo, chegar em um trabalho e não haver nenhum profissional capaz de trabalhar com seu tom de pele e cabelo? E isso acabar afetando o resultado final de seu trabalho e desapontando o cliente?
Ou então imagina se alguém te pergunta se a sua pele tem gosto te chocolate!
Bem, isso é algo que essas modelos vivenciam diariamente.
O vídeo está em inglês mas nós resumimos abaixo o que foi dito pelas modelos.
A primeira modelo a falar se chama Ajak Deng, tem 27 anos e trabalha há 8 anos como modelo.
Perguntaram a ela uma vez se quando ela toma banho a água penetra a pele e se ela sente a umidade da água. Ela respondeu que obviamente ela sente tudo, não importa a cor da sua pele, a sensibilidade é a mesma. Pouco absurdo, hm?
“Eles não tem os produtos específicos para nosso tom de pele e cabelo”
Ela já teve que ensinar os profissionais a chegar em seu tom de pele misturando produtos. Segundo ela, o problema é Milão, Paris e Espanha. Em geral em Londres e NY eles já estão adaptados a nossa cor.
A segunda modelo se chama Nyakim Gatwech, tem 25 anos e está há 2 anos no mercado.
Ela contou que já chegou várias vezes no backstage do trabalho e não tinha ninguém capaz de cuidar do seu cabelo e maquiagem. “Acabavam fazendo qualquer coisa e o resultado era algo que eu não gostava e não valorizava meu rosto e as fotos”.
A terceira modelo a se apresentar chama-se Leomie Anderson, 24 anos, há 11 anos trabalhando como modelo.
Leomie é top model da Victoria’s Secret, mas contou que uma vez chegou a ficar 3h na fila de um casting fashion e ao chegar na sua vez, o cliente disse que não estavam selecionando modelos africanas para a campanha. Total falta de respeito não avisar antes!
Ela cita situações onde não sabiam o que fazer com seu cabelo e praticamente o destruíram em um dos backstages. Ela mesma teve que salvar seu look e ainda ajudar outras modelos negras que estavam desesperadas com os resultados do backstage!
Khoudia Diop, 21 anos, modelo há 2 anos e meio.
“As marcas estão tentando tornar as modelos negras uma tendência, mas nós não somos uma tendência, isso é diversidade, representatividade. Isso é triste”.
Essas modelos são exemplos de garra e determinação, pois chegar até onde chegaram não foi apenas um desafio, mas uma verdadeira luta pela representatividade dos negros no mundo Fashion.
