Quem vê o sorriso no rosto de Sandra Passos e a garra para levantar um projeto social em São Gonçalo – A Rio School  – deve se perguntar: 

 – Por que nesta cidade? De onde vem tamanha determinação em transformar e inspirar jovens?

A resposta é uma longa história de vida, desde o Lixão da Praia da luz em São Gonçalo, até a Fundação da própria agência de modelos na China.

Atualmente, um outro sonho está sendo realizado.

Ele se chama  Rio School.

A Rio School é um projeto social que está sendo desenvolvido há 2 anos, mas saiu do papel em 2017 com a ida de 2 modelos plus size para a China, e se concretiza em 2018, com a construção de uma família de 24 jovens que farão parte de uma escola virtual.

A escola não leciona apenas práticas para o mundo da moda. As aulas transpiram responsabilidade social.

Cada jovem, uma vez dentro da Rio School, deve saber claramente seu papel social e a importância da sua imagem e ação na sociedade. 

Dos 24 jovens selecionados para a Rio School 2018, 2 já embarcaram para a Rio School China, mas isso é uma jornada que você acompanha aqui!

De volta às origens

Sandra Passos nasceu em 1989, em uma família de 15 irmãos, um pai criador de porcos e uma garçonete.

Suas lembranças da infância são marcantes, ela lembra claramente dos momentos de dificuldade, mas que a tornaram a pessoa forte que é hoje, afinal somos consequência da nossa própria jornada, certo?

Quem acreditou no potencial da menina Sandra, foi sua mãe – Solange, que fez de tudo para que a filha desse os primeiros passos na carreira como modelo.

Solange Passos deixou de comer para pagar o curso de modelo para a filha em São Gonçalo.

Logo vieram os primeiros editorias no jornal da cidade.

Eu detestava a idéia de ser modelo, pois eu era tímida e nunca gostei de exposição – Sandra

Sandra participou de um concurso de beleza em São Gonçalo, onde ganhou ganhou uma bolsa de 100% para um curso de modelos em Niterói.

No primeiro dia de aula, não havia dinheiro para a passagem de ônibus, eis que a mãe saiu coletar moedas dos vizinhos e assim foi, com a ajuda dos professores do curso, Sandra completou o curso.

Aos 13 anos, um novo ciclo começava na carreira de Sandra. Ela havia sido agenciada por uma das maiores agências do Brasil, a Mega Model.

Me lembro no primeiro dia que pisei na agência. Eu estava toda emocionada, minha mãe super orgulhosa – Sandra

Sua primeira entrevista na agência foi traumática. Logo solicitaram uma cirurgia de modificação de seu nariz, que diziam ser muito grande.

A cirurgia não aconteceu e Sandra não trabalhou no Brasil como modelo.

Seu destino estava em outro continente.

Foram muitos castings no Brasil com feedbacks negativos. Quando tudo parecia distante e a jovem já pensava em desistir da carreira, Sandra foi convidada a participar de uma seleção internacional para China e Coréia.

A caminho do teste, Sandra encontrou seu professor que a disse: Tudo acontece na hora de Deus.

Em 2004, com 15 anos, Sandra embarcava para China com 2 dólares no bolso.

Aos 15 anos, Sandra embarcou para a China, onde vive até hoje.

Sem comunicação com a família, ela aprendeu a se virar sozinha, controlando as saudades.

Mas os pensamentos sempre envolviam a família, os irmãos que ficaram no lixão, o pai alcoólatra, a mãe sofrida e sonhadora.

O medo de errar e voltar frustrada, sem nada para casa, colocava um peso ainda maior nas costas da adolescente, com apenas 16 anos, sozinha no outro lado do mundo.

Nesse meio tempo, Sandra perdeu um irmão.

Essas perdas nos fazem enxergar ainda mais o verdadeiro significado da palavra família, família é base, família é tudo – Sandra

Foram anos de tentativas, de muita dedicação, foco, saudades, dificuldades, perdas, mas ela continuava firme, acreditando no sonho.

Não foi à toa o sucesso no mundo da Moda Intima na China.

Sandra Passos virou referência neste segmento de mercado.

Com o tempo, ela descobriu que o seu grande e verdadeiro sonho não era ser modelo.

Ser modelo foi uma fuga de todos os problemas que a acompanharam por toda a vida no Brasil.

Aos 25 anos, ela foi atrás desse sonho.

Sua vontade era ajudar pessoas, criar oportunidades e inspirar jovens. Mostrar que todos tem capacidade, fazendo uso de sua história de vida como grande exemplo.

Segundo Sandra, o lugar não nos torna quem nós somos, nós fazemos nossas escolhas. Mas, nunca podemos deixar de olhar pra trás, nunca podemos esquecer de onde viemos.

Com uma bagagem pesada de 13 anos no mercado de modelo internacional e 28 anos de vida, Sandra se considera uma pessoa bem sucedida e dedica tudo isso a sua família.
